Leaving the EU means both threats and opportunities for protecting a clean green environment, and thriving farms forests and fisheries. Even if a UK Act transfers EU rules into UK law, the enforcement mechanisms won’t come with them, and they will be at risk of repeal by those who see protecting nature as a burden. But there are opportunities too – for local small fishing businesses to get more than 6% of the catch, for real progress on air pollution.

Should there be a group in Exeter working on this, to join others all over UK who are campaigning to keep and improve protections for nature and human health and wellbeing? Transition Exeter has called one of our open organizing meetings to consider this – a bit different from our normal work building a low carbon society, and might need a new group. What do you think?

Come along to The Globe Inn, Newtown, Exeter at 6pm for a 6:30pm start to the discussion – there will be snacks available from the bar.
