Transition Exeter Constitution
Our mission is to inspire and support positive local action in Exeter towards:
• smaller carbon footprints and reduced climate change
• community resilience in the face of oncoming fossil fuel shortages and climate change
• sustainable lifestyles
Objectives
We seek to fulfil our mission by:
(a) Raising public awareness of climate change, the decline of cheap fossil fuels and the end of unlimited natural resources;
(b) Supporting dialogue and collaboration with other local organisations;
(c) Empowering people to develop sustainable and resilient lifestyles that can be both enjoyable and fulfilling;
(d) Acting as a springboard for self-sustaining community initiatives that reduce the Exeter carbon footprint and build resilience against the challenge of fossil fuel depletion;
(e) Promoting research and education projects that increase our understanding of climate change;
(f) Supporting the Transition Network, other Transition communities and similar community-led initiatives.
Our values
(a) We strive to work in an open and inclusive way, with honesty and transparency. Everyone is welcome to get involved, regardless of background, politics, faith, race, age, class or gender.
(b) We strive to achieve a way of life that does not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
