Exeter OpenEcoMaps

Exeter Transition Maps.

Transition Exeter has teamed up with OpenEcoMaps to provide a useful resource for the citizens of Exeter. The maps have been created using OpenStreetMap, which is an open source mapping project.

Exeter OpenEcoMap

Exeter OpenEcoMaps has been developed to enable the transition community to provide relevant mapping showing features of interest, including a cycle map, public transport map and recycling map. The site has been developed by Tom Chance and uses OpenStreetMap data.

To view an interactive version of the Exeter OpenEcoMap, click here: Exeter OpenEcoMaps website. On the map, users can choose from the following layers:

  • Default Map
  • Cycle Map
  • Public Transport
  • Bing Aerial Images

Transition information may be overlayed onto any of the above maps, to show either none, some or all of the following themes:

  • Zero Waste (Recycling Facilities)
  • Sustainable Transport (Railway Stations*)
  • Sustainable Food (Allotment Sites)

* Note: Bus stops can be viewed on the default map when zoomed in.

The OpenEcoMaps website allows downloading of the information as a kml file, so it can be viewed, for example in Google Earth. Map image © copyright Data CC-BY-SA by OpenStreetMap and Tom Chance (OpenEcoMaps)
