Transition Exeter

The Transport Group have sent Devon County Council our response to the proposed Local Transport Plan for 2011-2026, jointly with Friends of the Earth. We've found lots to agree with but also made a number of suggestions, in particular a shift away from economic growth as a long-term goal and towards sustainability, quality of life and prosperity for all. The Local Transport Plan will be finalised at Council meetings in February, so we are working to make councillors aware of our views and we'll be monitoring the final decision and the implementation of the plan.

We've also been discussing the Alphington Park and Ride (see the calendar for details of the public meeting on 14th February) and bus fares for children in Exeter. We've heard that Stagecoach may be carrying out a trial of cheap child fares during February Half Term - when we get more news we'll post it on the transport group page of the TE website.
