Julia describes herself as a 'campaigning consultant'.  She's also a leading opinion former and speaker on environmental, social and ethical issues.  Current or recent blue chip clients include Marks & Spencer, Morrisons, McDonalds, Procter & Gamble and Shell.  She's also the author or co-author of nine books, including the Green Consumer Guide, which sold over 1 million copies worldwide, and more recently The New Green Consumer Guide. In 1987 she co-founded, with John Elkington, SustainAbility Ltd, a leading edge consultancy and think tank, which now has offices in London, Washington and Zurich.   She sits on the Food Ethics Council and the board of two charities, Waste Watch and Haller, which supports sustainable rehabilitation schemes in Africa.  In 1989 Julia was elected to the 'UN Global 500 Roll of Honour' for her 'outstanding environmental achievements' and in 1999 she was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours List.
