Inner Transition Group

Transforming our world has an inner as well as an outward side, and will need a deep change of heart and mind, and in the ways our groups, institutions and decisions work.  The Transition Exeter Inner Transition Group (formerly the Heart & Soul Group) is exploring how to support ourselves and others, and to find inspiration in these challenging and exciting times, as well as learning more of the personal and group skills we need for an inclusive and positive future.

We are a a fairly new group  which is exploring and drawing on the insights and teachings of a range of disciplines, including non-violent communication, whole systems thinking, psychology, therapeutic and spiritual viewpoints. One of the approaches we are beginning to use is  'the Work that Reconnects' , developed by Joanna Macy.*  Our aim is to create a space in which we can express how it feels to be alive and engaged at such an uncertain and critical time, and in which we can listen to the feelings and needs of others, both within our meetings and in smaller groups outside them for those who wish.

We create events for inspiration, celebration and connecting to the natural world, sometimes using music, poetry, seasonal events, and the like.

We learn and share skills to work together in mutual respect, safeguarding democratic, non-hierarchical relationships, and practices that welcome people from all walks of life. These include skills in for example communication, group process, conflict resolution, consensus building.

Our meetings are open to all. To find out more contact Gill on 01647 24789.

* The Work That Reconnects is a pioneering form of group work that began in the 1970s. It demonstrates our interconnectedness in the web of life and our authority to take action on its behalf. It has helped many thousands around the globe find insight, solidarity, and courage to act, despite rapidly worsening conditions.

"Books, lectures and debates are not enough by themselves. We must also learn to see in new ways and experience for ourselves the powers that are essential to the healing of our world." (Joanna Macy).
